Shakir originally hails from New Jersey and stands 6-foot-0, 190 pounds. He recorded 43 receptions, 724 yards and six touchdowns in his sophomore season, on his way to first-team All-KJCCC. Shakir also served as a kick and punt returner. He was ranked as a three-star junior college recruit by 247Sports.
Maryland’s top three wide receivers in 2025 — Octavian Smith Jr., Jalil Farooq and Shaleak Knotts — all declared for the NFL Draft following the season. That leaves plenty of targets available for a receiver room that includes Shakir, redshirt senior Kaleb Webb, Wyoming transfer Chris Durr Jr. and Old Dominion transfer Na’eem Abdul-Rahim Gladding.
