Why did the Maple Leafs send Bo Groulx down to AHL?
Groulx was sent down because of the number of games he has played this season for the Maple Leafs.
With nine games at the NHL level, he could be sent directly down to the AHL without clearing waivers.
If Groulx reached 10 NHL games, he'd have to clear waivers to go back down, and the Leafs didn't want to risk that.
They want to allow Groulx to play in the AHL playoffs with the Marlies, so this was the safest way to do that.
"Could still rejoin Leafs at some point down the stretch, but it would need to be an emergency recall," TSN's Mark Masters wrote on X.
In his nine games with the Maple Leafs, Groulx had three goals and two assists. He won't be adding to those numbers right now, though.
