Marco Silva says Fulham ‘superiority’ over Spurs clear

Fulham boss Marco Silva has said his side’s ‘superiority’ over Tottenham Hotspur was clear after a 2-1 win at Craven Cottage.

Goals from Harry Wilson and Alex Iwobi earned Fulham three points at Craven Cottage, a win that lifts the West Londoners up to ninth in the table.

It was a deserved win for Fulham who took a two-goal lead inside the first 34 minutes and rarely looked like surrendering that advantage.

Wilson opened the scoring on seven minutes, with Spurs unhappy about the opener. Spurs felt the goal should have been disallowed for a push by Raul Jimenez on Radu Dragusin, having had a similar effort ruled out against Arsenal last week. VAR allowed the goal to stand and Fulham built on that luck with a second as Iwobi volleyed home.

Richarlison did pull a goal back for struggling Spurs, but Igor Tudor’s visitors were unable to get back into the game. The win for Fulham keeps alive the club’s hopes of European football next season.

Speaking to Sky Sports at full-time, Silva said his team fully merited their success: “It was a game for us to win in a different way in terms of goal-scoring, the superiority was clear from the first half to last moments of the game. So many chances, we were clinical first half, second half we created lot of chances.

“If you don’t kill the game with a third goal it’s always open if they sore one goal, and the did that. But I have to be delighted, creating chances like we did today shows quality. Creating the chances inside the box was top level from us.

“Defensively we did ok, we should have done better with the goal, but congratulations for the players. We deserved the three points, but we have to move on.”
