Orange Krush responds to online criticism; Underwood: ‘They’re great’

If you’ve been on the hellhole that is X in recent days, you’ve probably seen some of the conversation about Orange Krush.

And the dialogue hasn’t been great toward the Illini’s basketball fan section.

After the crowd appeared to be quite quiet toward the end of Illinois’ upset loss to Wisconsin on Tuesday night, Orange Krush faced some backlash over needing to get more into the game.

Sunday afternoon against Indiana, that appeared to change.

“They’re great,” said head coach Brad Underwood after Sunday’s 20-point win over the Hoosiers. “We got the best fans in the country. All I want is our building to have, at some point, all that concrete up there start chipping away because it’s so loud, and then we can stress Josh [Whitman] out instead of me.”

Underwood claimed to not be privy to the discourse over Orange Krush.

Kylan Boswell, who returned from a four-week absence after a hand fracture, appears to have known what was going on online.

Either way, good on Orange Krush for stepping up to the challenge this weekend.

I’m not sure Illinois would have won the two home games they lost if Krush was louder, but who knows?
