Jaipur: As many as 10 social media influencers in Bhilwara have been arrested for spreading rumors regarding shortages of gas, petrol, and diesel. The police have arrested them on charges of attempting to incite panic. The accused were made to apologize, and a video of their apology has also been released as well.

The superintendent of police of Bhilwara, Dharmendra Singh, said that the police are keeping a strict watch on individuals spreading rumors about gas and petroleum shortages in light of the ongoing conflict between Iran and the Israel-US alliance. During this surveillance, 10 specific accounts were identified that were actively propagating these rumors.
“These individuals were creating an atmosphere of fear and confusion among the public by posting misleading content on social media solely to increase their follower and viewer counts. Consequently, preventive action was taken against them,” said the officer.

In the apology video, the accused said, “We created these videos after watching similar clips made by others. There is absolutely no shortage of diesel, petrol, or gas in our country. We apologize.”
Four of the arrested influencers operate a handle named “Berozgar Boys" that boasts a following of 1.4 million.
