Formula 1 competed in Japan for its final race until May, and it was a competitive event. Oscar Piastri took the lead after a strong start; however, a massive accident by Haas driver Ollie Bearman caused a safety car. Kimi Antonelli and the No. 12 team for Mercedes won the Japanese Grand Prix, earning their second victory of the 2026 Formula 1 season. Antonelli dropped to sixth at the start of the race and played the perfect strategy to regain the needed track position to win the event.
