Eldridge Homers; Giants Defeat Sultanes de Monterrey

· Yahoo Sports

Guess who smoke a home run on Monday night at Oracle Park? Would you believe Bryce Eldridge?

The San Franciso Giants' phenom slammed a three-run homer in the eighth inning as the Giants defeated Sultanes de Monterrey 10-2 in an exhibition game.

Eldridge, of course, will start this season playing for the Triple-A Sacramento River Cats. But that doesn't mean Eldridge wants to make a lasting impression on Giants manager Tony Vitello and president of baseball operations Buster Posey.

Consider his mission accomplished on Monday night.

Eldridge, though, was not the only San Francisco player to smash a home run. With San Francisco leading 4-2 in the bottom of the sixth inning, Willy Adames hit a solo home run over the left-center field wall.

Then, with the Giants up 5-2, Eldridge stepped to the plate and sent his shot over the left-field wall. Luis Matos and Diego Cartaya also scored, putting San Francisco in total control at 8-2.

With two outs in the bottom of the eighth, Tyler Fitzgerald smoked a two-run homer over the left-field wall. Drew Gilbert scored on the homer, too, and that wrapped up the Giants' scoring on Monday night.

Tristan Beck picked up the victory for the Giants in relief.

Vitello used eight different pitchers in the game, obviously wanting to see how they all looked in game situations.

Collectively, San Francisco posted 11 hits off of Sultanes pitchers.

The Giants will play their final Spring Training game against Sultanes de Monterrey on Tuesday night. First pitch is at 9:45 p.m. ET.

Then, well, things get serious for real on Wednesday night.

San Francisco welcomes Aaron Judge and the New York Yankees to Oracle Park for Opening Night of the 2026 MLB season. Logan Webb gets the honor of starting the opener for Vitello and the rest of the team.

If you are Netflix subscriber, then you are in luck. The Yankees-Giants opener will air on the streaming platform. First pitch is scheduled for 8:05 p.m. ET. Pregame coverage starts on Netflix at 7 p.m. ET.

MLB Network's TV production will oversee the broadcast. Elle Duncan, best known for her time with ESPN, will be the pre- and post-game host. Joining Duncan will be baseball legends Barry Bonds, Albert Pujols, and Anthony Rizzo as analysts.

In the broadcast booth will be Matt Vasgersian on play-by-play and he'll be joined by Yankees' World Series champion CC Sabathia and Giants' World Series champion Hunter Pence.

Lauren Shehadi of MLB Network will be on the field providing updates. Special guests on the telecast include NFL star and one-time MLB draft pick Jameis Winston, comedian Bert Kreischer, and WWE pro wrestler Jey Uso.
