Jaguars post-free agency position review: Evaluating wide receiver unit

With NFL free agency at a near standstill, we will be evaluating the current state of each Jacksonville Jaguars' position group, specifically, where things stand and whether or not more moves need to be made.
Compared to the rest of the league, it's been a very quiet free agency period for the Jaguars. GM James Gladstone recently explained the reason behind that, and it has to do with the 2027 compensatory draft picks the Jaguars are projected to land. I would also guess that the Jaguars' tight salary cap situation isn't helping things either in that regard.

So the best avenue for addressing their remaining needs likely comes in the NFL draft, where the Jaguars have 11 picks -- including four in the top 100 -- and flexibility, allowing the board to dictate which direction they go at each selection.

Jaguars free agency moves at wide receiver
- Joshua Cephus was an exclusive rights free agent; however, the Jaguars non-tendered him. This, in turn, made Cephus an unrestricted free agent, able to sign where he pleased.
- Dyami Brown signed with the Commanders as a free agent.
What is the need at wide receiver for the Jaguars after free agency?
As you can see by the top four players under contract, the Jaguars are positioned very well at wide receiver -- even if Travis Hunter takes on more of a "part-time" role on offense.
James Gladstone has also made it very clear that the team does not intend to trade Brian Thomas Jr.
With that said, we can anticipate that Gladstone will still add to this unit to bolster the depth and competition behind the top four players at this position. More players will be needed on the training camp roster.
However, I wouldn't expect premium resources to be utilized at wide receiver either. Perhaps it's a low-cost veteran addition late in free agency or even after the NFL draft. A mid to late-round pick in the draft could be in play as well, especially with the Jaguars having 11 selections.
