The former Toronto Blue Jays standout pitcher, though, looks like he might still be broken.
For most pitchers, Spring Training stats don't tell the whole story. They're working on different things, and so they aren't necessarily operating at full throttle all the time.
Manoah is a different story. This is a guy trying to save his career. And he's getting shelled this spring after joining the Angels.
He has pitched 15.1 innings this spring, allowing 23 hits and 16 runs (9.39 ERA). He has struck out 13 hitters but walked 14 hitters.
Yeah, not good.

It continues the most bizarre career downfall of this era.
Manoah had a 2.24 ERA in 31 starts with the Blue Jays in 2022 (after 3.22 ERA in 20 starts as a rookie).
Then in 2023, he fell down to a 5.87 ERA in 19 starts with Toronto.
Manoah was a bit better in 2024 with a 3.70 ERA in five starts, but injuries and ineffectiveness have kept him away from the majors since those five appearances.
He'd love to get back to MLB with the Angels, but right now, Manoah doesn't look like a player worthy of a spot in the major leagues.
The Angels have made a lot of odd moves in recent years, and honestly, going after Manoah to see what was left in the tank wasn't terrible.
It doesn't look likely to work out, though.
