Bavarian Loan Works: FC Köln to execute buy option for Bayern Munich loanee Felipe Chávez
· Yahoo Sports
The 1. FC Köln will execute their option to purchase Bayern Munich prospect Felipe Chávez this Summer. This was first reported by the Abendzeitung in Germany, as recorded by @iMiaSanMia. Chávez went on loan to Köln in the January transfer window and has apparently already impressed Köln enough that they want to bring him over, despite his relatively low playing time since joining. He has made two bench appearances and has no goals nor assists.

Chávez will turn 19 next month and has been in the Bayern academy since 2019 — transferring from his hometown club, FC Augsburg. He made 47 appearances combined at the U-17 and U-19 levels and scored over 20 goals at each level. He has 19 appearances since 2024 with Bayern II and four goals during that time. He also made two Bundesliga appearances with the senior team before going on loan. Despite being born in Germany — and representing them at the U-15 — Chávez has switched to Peru and has made one appearance with the senior team.
Although Bayern sent Chávez on loan and included this option to buy, he is still highly rated at Bayern and considered a big talent. Because of this, Bayern has included a buy-back clause for 2027 and 2028. His development at Köln will be interesting to track over the coming seasons.
