Walker’s decision to join the Chiefs projects as a spectacular move for both player and team. The MVP of Super Bowl LX will benefit from Kansas City’s upper-echelon blocking; in 2025, the Chiefs’ offensive line propelled the team’s rushers to a 43.6% success rate (seventh-highest in the NFL). And K.C. achieved that despite being in desperate need of more dynamism from its running back room. Chiefs RBs have produced explosive runs of 10-plus yards at the lowest rate in the league in consecutive seasons (4.7% in 2024, 6.5% in 2025). Walker, on the other hand, generated explosive runs on 14.9% of his carries this past season, the second-highest rate among running backs with 150-plus attempts. His top career speed of 22.09 MPH is faster than any mark hit by a Chiefs back on a scrimmage play since at least 2016.  from Article

Kansas City has 2 significant concerns entering league year | SI

Heartburn at cornerback

Cornerback has to be Kansas City’s No. 1 worry, though, simply because the Chiefs are significantly short-handed. They simply don’t have the bodies, not to mention the level of quality they’ve lost since March 4.

Kansas City’s two starting quarterbacks in 2025 became – within a six-day stretch – starters for the Los Angeles Rams. Trent McDuffie after the trade became the highest-paid cornerback in NFL history, and Jaylen Watson became the NFL’s first free-agent cornerback to sign with a team this offseason.

Nohl Williams, a talented but raw third-round pick, and Kristian Fulton, a veteran 2025 free agent who spent most of his first Chiefs season in Steve Spagnuolo’s doghouse, would likely start if Kansas City had to play a game on Sunday. While Williams routinely shut down some of the game’s best wide receivers, the slot is even more of a concern. To fill McDuffie’s cleats there, Chris Roland-Wallace could be the Chiefs’ next option. Chamarri Conner, who most believe is better as a safety, would also be in the mix, and non-drafted free agent Kevin Knowles has a promising future.

Chiefs DL Chris Jones Posts Mysterious Message Regarding FA Pass Rusher | Heavy

Jones is always having fun on social media, and has already made posts recently about the Chiefs bringing back Kelce and signing Walker. On Wednesday, seemingly out of the blue, Jones sent out a post on X that simply read “Cam Jordan…”.

Nobody knows if this is Jones lobbying for the Chiefs to sign Jordan, or if he has some insider knowledge that the team is planning to do so. Regardless, Jordan is a name to keep an eye on, as he played under Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo during the 2012 season with the New Orleans Saints.

During that season, Jordan posted a career high in tackles with 67. He also recorded eight sacks, three forced fumbles, and three passes defensed. Jordan has the protype size that Spagnuolo likes in his defensive ends at 6-foot-4 and 287 pounds. At 36 years old, Jordan may not be in his prime anymore, but is actually coming off the best year he’s had in a while, racking up 10.5 sacks in 2025.

Free Agency already has ruined many mock drafts | Yahoo Sports

Jeremiyah Love landing with the Kansas City Chiefs or New Orleans Saints? Almost certainly toast.

The Pittsburgh Steelers and San Francisco 49ers locking in on a first-round wide receiver? Much less likely.

The Tennessee Titans passing on a first-round receiver with the signing of Wan’Dale Robinson? Not so fast.

Those are just some of the reverberations from the first day of NFL free agency’s legal tampering period, which rolled into mock drafts like a live grenade.

Perhaps no headliner in the draft process had his potential landing spots impacted more significantly than Love, the No. 1 running back prospect who exited the league’s annual scouting combine on a heater that had him flying up some draft boards. So much so, it appears neither the Saints or the Chiefs (who hold the Nos. 8 and No. 9 picks in the first round) felt obliged to wait and see if he Love actually made it to their pick. Instead, each franchise will dole out the two richest running back contracts in this wave of free agency, with Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker III committing to sign with Kansas City for three years and $45 million, and Travis Etienne Jr. locking in with the Saints for a surprising four-year $52 million deal.

Ravens’ DeCosta ‘gutted’ that Maxx Crosby trade fell through | ESPN

OWINGS MILLS, Md. — Talking for the first time since backing out of the trade with the Las Vegas Raiders for five-time Pro Bowl pass-rusher Maxx CrosbyBaltimore Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta struck a somber tone Wednesday over the decision to not complete the deal and pushed back on the narrative that he had buyer’s remorse.

“I understand how people might maybe from afar would feel that way, but nobody’s more upset about this than me — gutted by it actually,” DeCosta said during his 19-minute media session. “And so a regret, a big regret for me, but we will move on as a football team.”

DeCosta got emotional at times in explaining it was a difficult but necessary decision, pointing out that Crosby is one of his favorite players in the NFL but he had to do what was best for the organization. He veered away from mentioning any medical concerns with Crosby and said the trade was nullified “based on our assessment of the situation.” League sources told ESPN the Ravens had medical concerns that arose during Crosby’s physical.

The Ravens were within their rights to move on from the deal because trades are contingent on players passing a physical. But Baltimore has drawn criticism among league circles because the team voided the trade with Crosby, which included sending two first-round draft picks to the Raiders, and quickly pivoted to a deal for Pro Bowl pass-rusher Trey Hendrickson that didn’t require giving up any draft capital.

Bills signing ex-Dolphins pass rusher Bradley Chubb to three-year, $43.5 million deal | NFL.com

The Buffalo Bills are taking another swing at a veteran edge rusher.

Two-time Pro Bowler Bradley Chubb is signing a three-year, $43.5 million deal with Buffalo, NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport, Mike Garafolo and Tom Pelissero reported on Wednesday. The contract includes $29 million in guaranteed money and can be worth up to $52.5 million, per The Insiders.

Chubb became available after the Miami Dolphins decided they would release him as part of a larger effort to clear salary cap amid their rebuild under new leadership. News of their split first surfaced in mid-February, offering Chubb time to explore the market before his release (with a post-June 1 designation) became official Wednesday.

It didn’t take him long to find a job elsewhere, landing with Buffalo less than one hour into the new league year.

Colts to re-sign QB Daniel Jones to 2-year, $88M deal | ESPN

The Indianapolis Colts and quarterback Daniel Jones reached agreement Wednesday on a two-year, $88 million contract that can be worth up to $100 million, agents Brian Murphy and Andrew Kessler told ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Jones gets $50 million fully guaranteed at signing, while $60 million is guaranteed for injury, the agents told Schefter.

“I’m fired up,” Jones said on the “The Pat McAfee Show” on Wednesday. “Fired up to be back and definitely grateful for the opportunity to be back and here with the Colts.”

Jones, recovering from a torn Achilles, is expected to be ready for the start of the regular season, and one source told Schefter he “absolutely” expects him to be ready for training camp.

While calling it a “process,” Jones said Wednesday his rehab is going well and his goal is to be back Week 1.

4 ways Kenneth Walker can impact the Chiefs’ offense

1. Bringing back the screen game

Walker is interesting to evaluate as a receiving back. He has reliable hands and can run a functional route tree, but he’s not great in pass protection. Because of this, it was difficult for the Seahawks to play Walker on obvious passing downs, since teams would blitz a second-level defender to make Walker stay in protection and identify the right blitzer.

There’s a chance that being coached by offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy will help in pass protection. Regardless of that, however, Walker could shine in the screen game. When exploring options at running back, it’s easy to imagine head coach Andy Reid getting excited about Walker in the screen game.

Walker’s speed and juking ability make him deadly in open space. Pair that with Reid’s designs and the Chiefs’ athleticism on the offensive line, and it’s fair to expect multiple explosive plays off screens next season.
