Real Madrid reopen talks with Liverpool defender, willing to offer €15 million bonus – report

Real Madrid’s defensive situation has seen numerous ups and downs this season but never reached a state of stability.

Constant injuries, suspensions and setbacks have seen the team operate without a full-strength central defensive unit all season, and the management have it marked in red as a priority for the summer.

Indeed, as confirmed by the Spanish outlet, Real Madrid have returned to Ibrahima Konate as an option to strengthen the defence in June – a player who they have closely followed for a long time now.

The Liverpool star has been on the club’s radar long enough, but his inconsistent form saw him drop out of the priority list. Given that he will be a free agent and that his displays have improved, however, the Merengues have seemingly reopened the doors.

Real Madrid have reopened contacts with Konate’s agents and are negotiating a bonus fee that could tempt the player to join the club. Florentino Perez is said to be willing to offer as much as €15 million as said bonus.

Los Blancos are optimistic about their chances of signing him, especially given how he has already rejected many renewal proposals from Liverpool. The player is ready to push for a departure, and Real Madrid just have to be present with the door open to land him.

So far this season, Konate already has 28 league starts for his team with seven clean sheets and a goal to show. He averages over 14 defensive actions per game.
