Into the second period, Pittsford’s Steffen Finke was trapped on the way but able to get a pass up to David Pollard. On a fast break opportunity, Pollard beat the last defender before faking out the goalie for his second goal in the Sectional tournament. Pittsford took a 3-0 lead with just under 12 minutes left in the period.
Later in the second, the Patriots were on the power play with a opprotunity to get on the board. From just below the blue line, McAllister King found a soft spot and scored Penfield’s first goal of the game.
Late into the third period, however, Pittsford had a power play opportunity of its own, and Casey Reagan took advantage. From near the blue line, Rodgers lofted a shot right past the goalie, who was blocked by two players crossing in front.
