North Carolina baseball maintains No. 8 ranking in latest coaches poll

North Carolina stayed at No. 8 in the USA TODAY Sports baseball coaches’ poll after going 3-1-1 last week.

The Tar Heels beat Richmond and Longwood in their midweek games, then played East Carolina to a series tie after splitting the first two games and having the rubber match called early with no makeup date scheduled.

UNC is one of seven ACC teams in the poll and is the league’s second-highest ranked team behind No. 4 Georgia Tech. Also ranked are Clemson (No. 11), NC State (No. 15), Miami (No. 16), Florida State (No. 17) and Wake Forest (No. 20).

The ACC has the second-most teams in the USA TODAY Sports coaches poll, trailing only the SEC, which has 12.
