No. 1 Tennessee (12-0) opened play in the Green and Gold Classic, hosted by UAB, at Mary Bowers Field in Birmingham, Alabama.
Tennessee, UAB, Mercer, Missouri State, Ole Miss and Southern Illinois are part of the field for the Green and Gold Classic.

The Lady Vols defeated Missouri State (7-4), 5-0, in their first game on Friday.
Sage Mardjetko (2-0) pitched a complete game and recorded 11 strikeouts and 104 pitches, including 65 strikes, against 28 batters. She allowed four hits and three walks.
Ella Dodge and Makenzie Butt hit one home run each against Missouri State.
Tennessee also defeated UAB (5-7), 6-1, on Friday.
Karlyn Pickens (4-0) started for the Lady Vols and pitched a complete game. She recorded 11 strikeouts and 100 pitches (76 strikes) against 25 batters. UAB hit 10 groundouts and one flyout against the right-handed pitcher.
Dodge and Butt also hit one home run each against the Blazers.
