Shots fired at downtown Toronto business twice this month: Cops

Toronto Police say that the Queen St. W. business that was shot at on Monday afternoon was also shot at on Feb. 8.

But authorities are still trying to determine if the two incidents are related.

“Investigators believe this incident was targeted and are investigating any connection between the two occurrences,” a police spokesperson said on Tuesday.

“I can tell you that the investigation is ongoing by our Gun and Gang Task Force.”

Police said on social media on Monday that officers responded to calls for a shooting shortly after 4:45 p.m. in the Queen-Portland Sts. area.

Cops said evidence of gunfire was found at the scene. No injuries were reported.

There was damage to a commercial building in the area, police said, and TV coverage showed the damaged target as the Asian fusion restaurant Miss Ivy.

Cops said unidentified suspects fled from the area in a dark-coloured vehicle.

HAMILTON MASSAGE THERAPIST CHARGED WITH SEX ASSAULT

A Hamilton massage therapist has been charged with sexual assault and police believe there may be more victims.

On Feb. 11, Abdulrahman Al Kaysee, 33, was arrested and charged with sexual assault.

BRAMPTON SEARCH WARRANTS LEAD TO FIREARM AND DRUG CHARGES 

Toronto Police have charged two people in a firearm investigation.

Officers from the Integrated Gun and Gang Task Force began a probe into the possession of firearms and on Friday.

Search warrants were executed at premises in the Queen St. E. and Hwy. 50 area of Brampton as well as The Gore Rd. and Countryside Dr. area of Brampton.

It’s alleged that officers located and seized a loaded Glock 26 handgun with an extended magazine and ammo and a large quantity of cocaine and fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking.

Jesse Dawson, 35, of Toronto, has charged with four firearm-related charges, two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine/fentanyl) and possession of proceeds obtained by crime over $5,000.

Jasdeep Tatla, 33, of Brampton, has been and charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine/fentanyl).

FIREARM DISCHARGE

A 27-year-old Toronto man is facing charges in a firearm investigation.

Toronto Police said officers from the Integrated Gun and Gang Task Force commenced an investigation into the discharge of a firearm.

On Sunday around 6:07 a.m., police responded to a call for a person with a gun in the Weston Rd. and Lawrence Ave. W. area.

It’s alleged that the accused was in the area and discharged a firearm during a dispute.

Officers responded to the area and arrested the accused.

It is further alleged that at the time of the arrest, a loaded 9mm handgun was located on the accused.

Shane Harty has been charged with five firearm-related charges.
